Has the Cakery gone to the dogs?

No, not really, it’s just Savannah’s birthday. See Savannah is the family [my] dog, a wild and crazy Samoyed. She was whelped [born] on October 8th, 2003…so she is 6 years old, and depending on which dog chart you look at, she’s between 42 and 48 in dog years. I don’t buy it. She is as toddler-ific as Sesame Street. She acts up, tears through the garbage, talks (barks) back, has the energy of boomerang, gets white fur on EVERYTHING and needs constant attention; this dog really is a handful (at times).

I know you’re asking “Why would you put up with such a mischievous fur ball?” Well we love her. Just like a little kid, she is carefree, she reminds us that life is still good, she is a dog – Man’s best friend – she loves us even when we are chasing her around the house after that stolen tissue. It is still her birthday and we would like to celebrate it.

So, that is why we have made this dog friendly cake from Dog Treat Recipie Exchange. She loves carrots, cream cheese, milk and well cake (which she is not supposed to have). So this year I looked into recipes for dog ice cream and dog birthday cake. The recipes come from Dog Treat Recipe Exchange and Pedigreed Pups websites. I am sure there are many more site which you can Google, but we decided on the Peanut Butter Delight cake. And as you can see below, she loved it, maybe next year she can invite her friends Maddy and Cassie over for some cake. So happy baking for you and your pups and Happy Birthday, Savannah!

  1. Well, Cassie and Maddy (and Gremmy & Remmy) sure liked it. Heck, even Kylie the cockatiel liked it! Savannah looks so cute in that picture. It would have been hilarious if you could have had Shotsy glaring in the background. 🙂
