Well folks after a long week of preparation and work, we have finally finished our latest creation….a 3-tiered bithday cake. It’s green and purple with flowers and butterflies…OH My….. Yes everything that a young tween could ask for.
We are just so glad it didn’t sink into itself. It went off with out a hitch and tiered cakes can be funny and you have to have just the right centering and base to be sure it is level. I recommend a heavy cake, pound cake is good. Fondant is also good to stable the cakes and creates that smooth canvas that you just don’t [quite] get with the buttercream.
We will soon be featuring “fun with fondant” as Shari is in her part III Wilton course for fondant and gumpaste this really allows flowers and other edibles to come alive on the cake and look almost life like….so stay tuned.
